Good news: I got accepted into the annual Patricia Sitar juried exhibition. It would have been my first juried group show of the year.
Bad news: I forgot to drop off the accepted painting in time. So it’s not in the show.
Therefore: no juried group exhibitions for me so far in 2024. Welp!
Since the painting’s not up for the public right now, here it is for your viewing pleasure:
I got inspired to make this piece while going down the long moving walkway between the National Galleries of Art in DC. At 12 x 16 inches, it’s one of the larger pieces I’ve done.
I was going to try to say something deeper about how every artist makes big mistakes sometimes as they bumble through their careers, but honestly, forgetting to drop off a painting might just be a me thing.
I did have a solo show back in January that went fairly well. My show in December of last year sold a bunch of stuff, too. I’m starting to have what I guess is a good problem of running out of work to exhibit, which mean I need to make a bunch of new stuff soon.
In other news, I applied for the National Gallery’s once-in-three-years portrait competition. Will update everyone if I win a spot in their exhibition, which will be held at the National Portrait Gallery.
