Was too exhausted from work this past week to update on Wednesday like I normally would. We’re in summer program at work right now, and it’s quite the grind. It’s just about done, though. Only Monday left to go, and then we’re done.
Anyway, here’s a piece I have in a show at Foundry Gallery in DC:
It’ll be up for the rest of the month. I also have three drawings up in Del Rey Gallery’s A Space Between in Alexandria, VA and two paintings in Gallery Underground’s Courage in Color in Arlington, VA. My painting at Mosesian Center for the Arts’ Under the Sea and Over the Rainbow is still up. Also got into the Falls Church Arts show Wild, which is going up later this month.
I got an Honorable Mention award for this piece at the Courage in Color show:
At the opening reception, I was standing near the piece when I heard a guy say, “This won Honorable Mention? That’s a miss for me.” I snickered and the guy turned to me. “Are you an artist?”
“Yes.”
“Do you have anything here?”
“Yep.”
“Which one?”
I pointed.
“Oh.” The man looked back at the piece. “Well, congratulations, but…” He shook his head and walked away.
That one interaction alone made it worth going to the opening.
