It’s been a while since I’ve written here (as usual). A lot has happened since I last posted; all of it good, a few of which I can’t talk about yet. But if things go well, you will hear about them soon.
At the moment, I’m in three juried group exhibitions. All of the other artists in them are very, very good - intimidatingly so. I’ve told friends that I feel like a small rat who snuck into the Louvre.
The earliest of the shows I’m in is Not Limited to the Human Condition at Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery. It’s a lovely space that I’ve wondered how to get into for some time. The show was supposed to have come down by now, but I suppose with Art All Night having just happened in DC, they decided to keep it up longer. I really recommend going to this one if you can - not just for me, but for the other artists. They’re incredible.
The next of the shows I’m in is DC Art Now! at the DC Commission of the Arts and Humanities. It’s an exhibition of the finalists in DCCAH’s acquisition process for their Art Bank. The show ends in December, which is presumably around when I’ll know if DCCAH has decided to acquire my painting or not. It’s an honor to even be a finalist; I applied last year with several pieces and none of them advanced.
Finally, I’m in Parallel Play, an exhibition at the gallery where I had my first “serious” solo show: Workhouse Arts Center. There are two other artists there, Julie Kinu Egresitz and Kyujin Lee, and both are incredible. The reception is on the 28th, if any of you local folks want to come.
I’ll also be tabling at Rhizome DC’s SPECTRAL Art Market this month. So stop by Rhizome on the 21st if you’d like to pick up some prints, stickers, or pins.
