This watercolor painting I made some time last year made it into a show in Watertown, MA, which is apparently not too far from Boston. It’s my first piece to get into a show that isn’t either online or in the DC-Metro area. So, I’m pretty pleased about that. It’s at the Mosesian Center for the Arts.
Here’s the flier for the show:
The painting was inspired by the children’s song, “The Farmer in the Dell.” It was one of my favorite songs as a very small kid, probably because it was repetitive in a way I found autistically satisfying.
The part that inspired this painting goes, “The dog takes the cat. The dog takes the cat. High-ho the derry-o, the dog takes the cat. The cat takes the mouse. The cat takes the mouse. High-ho the derry-o, the cat takes the mouse.”
And so on.
I thought the cat should take the dog for once. As a kid, I had a cat that used to chase dogs, which I - as a lifelong cat lover - found just and righteous. I am always on the side of catkind.
